How we met
A Philadelphia 2014 sushi BYOB birthday dinner is an unlikely venue for meeting your future spouse. Natalie would agree. The birthday girl and now wedding officiant, Carly, purposely sat Reid and Natalie across from each other. Unimpressed by Reid’s style, Natalie began to incessantly insult his colorful puffer vest. This would not be her future husband. It wasn’t until nearly a year later that Natalie asked Reid to her sorority formal (as a “friend” double date nonetheless). Reid decided to “make his move” and they went on a first solo date one month later at Little Fish, a restaurant to whom Reid had been selling lobsters and other seafood. Despite getting the royal treatment, the night ended with a horrific twist when none of Reid’s cards worked to pay the check. To Reid’s chagrin and Natalie’s delight, she paid for the first date.
The Proposal
The day started with plenty of activities, including a spa morning at the Rittenhouse Hotel, brunch at Parc, and ballroom dance lessons. The afternoon ended back on the campus of where it all began where Reid proposed in front of the iconic Benjamin Franklin statue. Afterwards, Reid organized a private dinner with family and friends at Little Fish. It was a celebratory evening filled with champagne, wine, oysters, caviar, and the works. The night ended at Smokey Joe’s, a Penn Institution for some rabble rousing.
